Fukudaya: Modern-Traditional Japanese Dining in BGC

I was taking a Grab on my way back home, and for some strange reason, the rotunda near the the cemetery was unusually jammed. So I asked the driver to drop me off by the corner of Arya, and I proceeded to walk home. At that point, I was already hungry (more like hangry, and extremely irritable), so I figured it'd be best to eat something at Fukudaya. So far, I've had good experiences eating there... and for the purposes of this blog, I thought I'd create a post just for this visit! I sat by the wall, close to the numerous bottles of sake lined up by the glass where the kitchen was. I've never really seen any (Japanese) people drink here at Fukudaya. But perhaps it's just all timing. I peeped slightly higher to see the progress of my order. It wasn't a very good angle, and I couldn't see anything really! lol I ordered an assortment of 5 types of sashimi - the Shu Moriawase (Php 700). It came in this really nice traditional ceramic dish... ...

Sugi: Reliably Good Japanese Food at Greenbelt, Makati

The original plan by Daisuke and I was to grab lunch over at Little Tokyo to avail of their special lunch sets. But as fate would have it, our meeting at the bank took longer than expected and we got pretty hungry. We walked along Arnaiz Avenue, initially to choose from any of the restaurants along the street. Since we just crossed New World Hotel, I recommended going to Greenbelt as an option, since it had a lot of restaurants nearby. The next thing you know, we ended up at Sugi. We were served bean sprouts once we sat. Initially, I was expecting it to taste a lot like the bean sprouts served to you at Korean restaurants... how it would be seasoned with salt and sesame oil. Instead, it was more like a pickle... which wasn't bad at all! Well, we were two hungry guys... and this got devoured in no time! I ordered the Tempura Moriawase set (Php 400), which was practically assorted tempura. It was really enjoyable, and it had a fairly decent batter. It was just the rig...

Mediterranean Cafe: Satisfying Mediterranean Food in Greenbelt 1 Makati

At about 5PM, I was already feeling hungry so I messaged my sister Regine if she would be interested to eat Mediterranean food over at Greenbelt 1. She had just finished her Japanese classes a couple of blocks away, so we opted to both meet directly there. Mediterranean Cafe at Greenbelt 1 had apparently gone through some renovations earlier this year. They opened up the space to allow an more open environment, and to create a larger seating capacity. Regine and I browsed through the menu and placed our orders with the waiter (by the way, out of the last 5 times I ate here, service has reliably been attentive and fast... it was no different this time 'round)! While waiting for our orders, Regine instructed me to grab the bottle of garlic sauce from the other table... seems we didn't have one! While it was tempting to get a more filled-up bottle from another table, I figured between the two of us, this amount would probably be enough. The first item to arrive...
