I invited my sister for dinner so I could consult her regarding photography equipment I wanted to buy for this mini studio set-up I wanted to create in my room. I recommended grabbing dinner at Friends & Family at BGC, because I was hoping to eat the chicken pastel from there again!
Well... as it happens, they had everything in the menu except the chicken pastel. Great.
Anyway, I've had numerous good experiences from the food here and so my sister and I fired away at ordering stuff we wanted to try!
This rice dish you see above was actually their bagoong rice. I initially thought that the crispy stuff on top was okoy... but apparently, it was egg whites. I loved the rice~ tasted really great!
We ordered some sisig, that came in this really small cast iron sizzling plate. The sisig was really good, and it had a great blend of flavours that you'd expect from a good sisig order!
Friend & Family's version of gising-gising surprised us both! We were both expecting chopped green beans with some coconut sauce. But instead, we got something that resembled curry. I have to say, it wasn't bad at all.... and we loved the sauce so much. The crispy kang kong on top was a nice addition to the dish. Overall, I'd order this one again!
And on that note, had I known that the gising-gising already had some crispy kang kong, we wouldn't have ordered this. The dressing was delicious. It kinda reminded you of those ranch-flavoured dips that go so well with nachos. Yeah, that's what it tasted a lot like!
Since we didn't order plain rice with all the items we ate, naturally you'd feel this sensation na nakakaumay. I ordered their mango cake, which was layered with Graham crackers and cream. It was okay~ I think I'd go for Friends & Family for food... not exactly for desserts. We were hoping this dish to be especially light, but it was a bit heavy for us in the end.
Overall, I enjoyed the food at Friends & Family, and I'd go back there again. The only issue we had that night was the aircon (it was malfunctioning, so it was a bit hot inside), but outside of that it's all good!
